Why study it:

Jagiellonian University in Kraków (UJ) runs Korean Studies as a two-year (four-semester) master's double-degree programme, taught entirely in English and developed in close cooperation with Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. It is aimed at students who want to understand the Korean Peninsula, its specific character and its role in international relations.

Programme: modules on Korean society and culture

The curriculum is built from modules that let you:

  • gain socio-cultural knowledge of Korea
  • learn to find your way in a Korean environment
  • gain experience in field research, which can be carried out during the year at the Korean university

Exchanges: one year in Kraków, one in Daegu

The two years at a glance

  • Year 1Institute of Middle and Far Eastern Studies, UJ, Kraków
  • Year 2Keimyung University, Daegu
  • Degreedouble degree, Master's
  • LanguageEnglish

After graduation: careers linked to Korea

Graduates can work in government administration at every level, in local government and cultural institutions, in the media, market research, advertising and public relations agencies, as well as in associations, foundations and organisations promoting culture, business, education, communication, tourism or trade. Their Korea-focused qualifications make it easier to work in an international environment at home and abroad, especially in institutions involved in cooperation with Korea, and to run their own business oriented towards the region. You can also continue your education at the Doctoral School in the Social Sciences or on postgraduate programmes.

Did you know? The Institute of Middle and Far Eastern Studies, based at ul. Oleandry 2a near the Błonia meadows and Jordan Park, also hosts a Confucius Institute and a Taiwan Research Centre, and students can join the Far Eastern Student Research Society.
